The 46 has been one of the most successful boats in the range and is now in run-out as the 47 arrives. That is worth knowing in both directions: build slots are finite, and the pre-owned market is about to get interesting. If you want a 46, the conversation is time-sensitive.

The 46 has been in the range since 2018, when it took over from the Lagoon 450, and the Iconic is a restyle rather than a new platform — hull length, beam, displacement, sail areas and cabin plans all carry over unchanged in Lagoon’s own published figures. What is new sits on deck: revised styling, a reworked forward living area with more sun pad space, and a swim ladder at the bow that gives you sea access clear of the transoms and the dinghy. If you are cross-shopping, that is the honest summary: the same well-proven boat, dressed differently.

The other change is the boom. Lagoon fits a furling boom whose mechanism is deliberately left uncovered, so the crew can watch reefing and furling happen rather than trust it blind — which answers the usual objection to in-boom systems. Sail area is 127m² upwind, from a 76.5m² high-roach mainsail and a 46.5m² self-tacking jib, with a square top and a Code 0 optional. At 16.3 tonnes, with 1,040 litres of fuel and CE category A for twelve, she is set up for passage-making rather than day sailing. She suits a couple covering distance with occasional guests, and charter operators in four-cabin form.
