Why the back catalogue matters

Most of the good pre-owned catamarans in the Caribbean are earlier Lagoons. Knowing which generation a boat belongs to tells you a great deal before you ever step aboard — how the bridgedeck is shaped, where the helm sits, whether the galley is up or down, and how easy parts will be to find.

The list below is a selection rather than a complete production history. Lagoon has built close to forty different models since 1984, and we have grouped them the way brokers actually think about them.

The first Lagoons

The line begins in 1987 with a 55-footer drawn by VPLP — nineteen were built. These are the boats from Lagoon’s first decade. (The Lagoon 55 in today’s range is a current model, not this one.)

Lagoon 57 Early large cruising cat from the founding era.
Lagoon 67 The biggest of the first generation.

The boats that made the name

The numbered 300 to 600 series took Lagoon from a niche builder to the largest multihull yard in the world.

Lagoon 380 The most successful model Lagoon has ever produced. Still the benchmark small cruising cat on the brokerage market.
Lagoon 400 Compact four-cabin cruiser, popular in charter fleets.
Lagoon 410 The 400’s predecessor, and a common first catamaran.
Lagoon 420 Notable as the hybrid-propulsion experiment of its day.
Lagoon 421 The 420 reworked with conventional diesel propulsion.
Lagoon 440 Flybridge helm, a layout that defined the middle of the range for years.
Lagoon 450 One of the great charter and owner boats. Flybridge and sportop versions.
Lagoon 470 Early large owner’s cat from the numbered era.
Lagoon 500 The 50-footer that took Lagoon into serious bluewater territory.
Lagoon 560 Flybridge flagship of its generation.
Lagoon 570 Predecessor to the 560, and a genuine long-distance cruiser.
Lagoon 620 The largest of the numbered hulls before the SIXTY series.

Recently superseded

Retired as the current range came in. Many are still sailing hard in the Caribbean, and they are what most good brokerage stock is drawn from.

Lagoon 35 The smallest modern Lagoon, replaced by the 38.
Lagoon 37 Short-lived and uncommon, which makes a good one worth finding.
Lagoon 39 The model at which Patrick le Quément joined the design team in 2013.
Lagoon 40 Direct predecessor to the 43 in the modern lineage.
Lagoon 42 Over 1,000 hulls built, and the boat the 43 replaced. The deepest brokerage fleet of any modern Lagoon.
Lagoon 46 Superseded by the 47 for 2026. Plenty still on the water.
Lagoon 50 The 51 Iconic’s predecessor.
Lagoon 52 Flybridge and sportop, a strong charter-ownership boat.
Lagoon 65 Large owner’s cat preceding the SIXTY series.
Lagoon 77 Superyacht scale before the EIGHTY series took over.

Earlier power catamarans

Lagoon built motor catamarans long before the current SIXTY 7 and EIGHTY 3.

Lagoon Power 44 The Power 43 developed a step further.
